These tiles 4-3/8 inches by 4-3/8 inches and 5/16" inch thick. Using my digital calibrator, the size is .32 inch thick and 4.40 inches wide on the self-spacing lugs. These tiles have self-spacing lugs; little bumps on the edges that separate the tiles for grouting. Imprinted on back of tiles is: “Mosaic” MADE IN USA These tiles have a satin type of finish; they are a little glossy but not a high gloss with a textured surface. From Kovels: Mosaic Tile Company of Zanesville, Ohio, was started by Karl Langerbeck and Herman Mueller in 1894. Frederick Hurten Rhead, the famous potter, worked at Mosaic Tile Company from 1922 to 1923. Many types of plain and ornamental tiles were made until 1959. The company closed in 1967.
